Designed
by Jack Nicklaus in 1972, the Golf Center at Kings
Island has played host to all three major tours.
The Tours
The course has been the site of the PGA's Ohio Kings
Island Open in the mid-'70s, the LPGA Championship in
the '80s, and is now the PGA Senior's Tour Kroger
Senior Classic.
The Course
Unfortunately, today's players cannot play the
original 18-hole layout (still used for the senior
tour). The Grizzly Course was expanded to 27 holes in
'96. The original back nine was incorporated into what
is now the South and West Courses. The Nicklaus Design
team was brought back in '98 to toughen the course,
adding trees and bunkers. Whichever side you play,
it's championship golf all the way. |
